Description of Session
The World Health Organization (WHO) is actively encouraging countries to implement National Health Workforce Accounts (NHWA), a system to "progressively improve the availability, quality, and use of data on health workforce through monitoring of a set of indicators” that will advance health care training, delivery, distribution, and outcomes. The WHO’s purpose is to facilitate standardization and interoperability of health workforce information by convincing ministries of health and other stakeholders to use the NHWA platform (built within DHIS2) and global indicators. Is your organization ready to assist in the consideration, implementation, and use of NHWA? Is it time to learn the essentials in 60 minutes? This workshop will cover the approach, system platform, needed partnerships, selection of indicators, and programmatic use of the NHWA at the country level. The presenters will walk participants through the components of NHWA including steps of implementation, key policy questions, data identification and access, health worker training status, finances, and requisite information systems. Activities will include practice sessions to develop and deliver an elevator pitch to help key stakeholders understand why NHWA are a priority and why their data are relevant.
