KT (Korea Telecom) is the largest telecommunications company in South Korea that provides the fastest and most innovative ICT (Information & Communication Technology) to people based on advanced infrastructures including the world's first 5G network. Since the 2015 MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) outbreak in South Korea, KT recognized that ICT can be a game changer in fighting epidemics and started global health initiatives using big data and AI. The session will provide an opportunity to understand KT's innovative digital health solutions such as a mobile-based disease surveillance and alert system, Global Epidemic Prevention Platform (GEPP) and KT's future plan for participatory surveillance including AI based self-diagnostic tool & disease outbreak detection system. This session will also share meaningful experiences from the GEPP implementation in developing countries including how the platform has created impact to improve national health capacity.
