How digital health systems can promote transparency and accountability and reduce corruption

This abstract has open access
Description of Session
We’d like to discuss how developing countries can transition to a digital system to promote transparency and accountability, while reducing corruption within health systems. As part of this discussion, we’ll present our experience working with USAID on the HIV Reform in Action (HIVRiA) and Health Reform Support (HRS) projects to create a paperless, transparent e-health system to register providers and patients. Through this system, we enable the Government of Ukraine to pay for specialized care services with fee-for-service or case-based payment mechanisms under the Program of Medical Guarantees and provide a platform for electronic health records.
